"Last Wednesday Apèro" - at 18.00 to 19.30 on the last Wednesday of each month. An informal chat and a drink at a different venue each time, including Banyuls and Collioure. The next will be hosted by Helen Donoghue at her house 45 rue Arago in Port Vendres. Thanks Helen! As always let us know in good time if you want to come. Please bring a plate of tapas to share. We will ask people for a donation to our funds.
Lifeboat Event - There will be a chance to look at the lifeboat and meet the crew
(possibly a short trip) to celebrate the return after refit. We have supported
the lifeboat regularly as an association. Date and details to be announced.
Aiguamolls Bird Reserve -11 April. April is a great month for bird migration. Our annual trip to Aiguamolls de l'Emporda is provisionally Thursday 11th subject to weather. Bring binoculars and camera. We will leave the Obelisque car park in PV at 08h30, sharing cars where we can. Bring a picnic or use the sandwich stall in the car park. You can choose to focus on the birds or just enjoy a walk by the sea in this great reserve. As I write the forecast is for light winds, sun and over 20 degrees. Let us know if you want to come.
Summer Exhibition - As announced at the AGM, the dates for this year are June 11th to 17th. Get to work - it is closer than you think!
Recipe Book - featuring favourite recipes from our members, the booklet is on sale now. We have ordered more of our excellent Recipe Books, having sold all the first 100,
and they have just arrived, so get your orders to us as soon as you can.
Cinema at Port Vendres - On 4 April 20h30 "The Death and Life of John F Donovan" dir Xavier Dolan, a Canadian drama in English starring among others Natalie Portman and Kit Harington.
On 11 April 20h30 "Companeros" dir Brechner in Spanish with French subtitles. It is a hard-hitting film set in Uruguay at the time of the military dictatorship.
VI Groups - As the association grows, a variety of separate groups
representing different activities are emerging, so if you are keen on any of the groups, let us know.
Russian: The small group of Russian speakers meets in Port Vendres on Fridays at 1500 for conversation and coffee when Tanya is here. Contact Linda for details.
Spanish: Carol Fraine has offered to lead a Spanish conversation group on Thursday afternoons if you want to go along. Again, contact Linda for details of venue. (Beginners level, but more advanced also possible.)
English: I'm sorry not to have made more progress here. The idea is to meet for an hour or so for a chance for conversation practice. I shall be sending out a short podcast in the coming days to give a theme to get us started. This is not a beginners' group, but a chance to polish up language skills that may be a little rusty.
Bird Watching: I send out occasional information to those who are interested in the birds of this area. If you would like to receive these emails, let me know.
